History – Fra Angelico’s Jesus christening medal
This christening medal is one of the most beautiful depictions of the Christ Child. It is inspired by the famous painting by Fra Angelico, the Virgin and Child of Turin. Christ holds the globus cruciger in his hand, and is thus called Salvator Mundi (Savior of the World). As a royal insignia, the globe represents the earth, a symbol of the sovereign’s global dominion, and the cross affirms the Christian faith. This christening medal is full of sweetness and beauty, and carries a lovely message of hope. Our christening medals are struck in our French workshops. 18 carat gold, 18mm.
