History – Ictus fish symbol christening medal
The Ictus medal, from the ancient Greek ichthús, is one of the major symbols used by early Christians as a sign of recognition. It represents Jesus Christ, the Savior. This symbol is stylized in the shape of a fish formed by two intersecting arcs. The Ictus symbol is the sign of the Resurrection, as well as the water of baptism and all baptized Christians.
