History – Mini Ecce Homo christening medal
Crafted in 18-carat yellow gold, this christening medal depicts Christ just after his scourging. Shown with a crown of thorns, Christ appears overwhelmed and pleading. This image represents Christ suffering on his cross. Pontius Pilate was considered responsible for Jesus’ condemnation. As the judge at his trial, he recognized his innocence but handed him over to the torture of the cross nonetheless. “Ecce homo” is the expression reportedly used by Pontius Pilate when he presented Jesus to the people. It means “Behold the man”.
